Your office visit will last 60-90 minutes depending on the complexity of your case. It is recommended that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled first appointment to complete a health assessment form. The actual visit between you and the doctor includes a detailed health documentation of your past medical history, family medical history, a brief review of systems and an evaluation of previous laboratory results if applicable. After the intake, a physical exam will be performed followed by a treatment plan to address your chief complaint. Your first visit may also include an acupuncture treatment. Our treatment plan will always emphasize preventative care as a long term goal. Please bring your labwork with you on your first visit if you have had recent labs and any medications and supplements you are currently taking.

With that said, you need to be ready to seek naturopathic medicine as the healing process takes effort on the patient's part. We as doctors can only provide you with the information to improve your health and make expert recommendations. It is up to you, the patient, to do your part if you truly want to improve your health.
Some of our patients have decided to seek care at Bay Area Naturopathic Medicine for a variety of reasons. Some patients were diagnosed with a condition by their medical doctor and were unable to find relief through conventional methods. Other patients were told by their doctors that they had normal blood tests or normal findings on diagnostic tests but they were still experiencing health issues. Some of our other patients have tried the conventional route as well as holistic routes after seeing multiple doctors, clinics and practitioners without resolving their health complaints.
Our goal is not to treat the symptoms, but to find the cause of your complaints by taking the time and effort to investigate the possible imbalances in the body. This is achieved through detailed history taking, Chinese medicine assessment, standard and functional laboratory testing and using customized treatment plans for each individual.
