What is it?
There are several type of vitamin B12 for injection, but the Methylcolbalamin form is better absorbed and has a longer action in the tissues after injection. This form of B12 can cross the blood brain barrier and patients are able to feel its effects quicker. The injections are delivered intramuscularly.
MIC stands for Methionine, Inositol and Choline. They are amino acids that are naturally found in the building blocks of protein in our bodies.
Benefits of MIC Include:
- Improves liver function and detoxification
- Breaks down fats
- Prevents build up of cholesterol in the arteries
Methionine is a sulfer containing amino acid and its function is to prevent excess fat deposits in the liver.
Inositol helps to increase the metabolism of fats and helps to reduce cholesterol levels. It also is essential for balanced mood and appetite.
Choline supports the liver in the detoxification pathways and is needed for the transport and elimination of fats and cholesterol in the body.
The side effects include pain and stinging, inflammation or slight bleeding at the injection site. It is normal for B12 to cause pinkish or reddish urine temporarily. Unused B12 circulating in the body will be removed via the kidneys through the urine and is non-toxic. For MIC injections, individuals with a drug allergy to sulfa can not receive the injection.
